Embedded MotionDriver compass full scale range explanation

I am using InvenSense Motion Driver 6.12 and I don't understand how are set full scale ranges for compass (AK8975 and AK8963) in the code. They are defined in inv_mpu.c and  used in data_builder.c (sensitivity parameter).

According to the datasheets (AK8975 and AK8963) the full scale ranges should be +-1229 uT and +- 4912 uT. However values in the code are 9830 and 4915. Do you have any idea why are these values set so?
